Courses offered at Sumter Academy
Sumter Academy offers three Diploma tracks; General Diploma, College Prep.
Diploma and Advanced College Prep. Diploma. The course of study used for the
College Prep. Diploma and Advanced College Prep. Diploma is designed to
prepare students for college and many technical careers. The General diploma
course of study is designed for students planning to attend trade or business
schools, or plan to go to work immediately following high school.
General Diploma Requirements:
24 Credits

4 English
4 History
4 Science
4 Math: To include Algebra I, Basic   
             Geometry and Intermediate  
             Algebra II.
1 Spanish
1/2 Computer
1/2 Creative Writing
1/2 Speech
1/2 Health
1/2 Lifetime Sports
1 P.E.
3 1/2 Electives
75 hours of Community Service: Will
begin for 2010/11 Ninth Graders.
College Prep. Diploma Requirements:
25 Credits

4 English
4 History: To include Honors History
4 or 5 Advanced Science's*
4 or 5 Advanced Math's*
1 Research and Writing
2 Foreign Languages
1/2 Computer
1/2 Speech
1/2 Health
1/2 Lifetime Sports
1 P.E.
75 hours of Community Service
*Must have 5 Advanced Credits of Math or Science.

26 Credits
