Fellowship of Christian Athletes:
  The F.C.A. is an open club accepting anyone whom is interested in membership.  There is no
membership fee to be a local member.  Local members are given the opportunity to be a
National F.C.A. member.  Weekly devotion and meetings are sponsored by students or invited
speakers.  This organization promotes Christianity, community service, leadership, and
friendship.  Currently there are 106 members in this organization.



Interact:
   The Interact Club is an organization open to all students and is sponsored by the  Rotary Club
of York, Alabama.  Membership dues are paid annually.  Its members are involved in community
service projects and help support activities done by the Rotary Club.



Student Government Association:
    This organization promotes school improvement of every kind.  It helps to coordinate certain
activities and needs among students, teachers and school officials.  It is governed by its own
constitution and handles school-wide elections and homecoming.



Beta Club:
    The purpose of the Beta Club is to reward merit, encourage effort, and promote the ideals of
honesty, service, and leadership.  Student members are selected on the basis of good
character, creditable achievement, and commendable attitude.  There are 109 members in the
junior and senior Beta Club.



Cheerleaders:
    The cheerleaders are to promote freindship, good will, enthusiasm and they show our
athletes that they are appreciated.  Their chief duty is to lead the student body in organized
cheering.  Their selection is based on judging by their peers, their teachers, and a group of
college cheerleaders.



The Talon:
     The yearbook of Sumter Academy preserves the memories of school life in pictures and text.  
The staff consists of the editor, co-editor, business manager, assistant business manager and
typists.



S.A. Club:
     The athletic letter earners of the school are eligible for this club.  The purpose is to promote a
deeper understanding of athletics in general and to foster inter-relationship among athletes of all
sports.



Math Team:
     The Math Team is made up of Seniors enrolled in Pre-Calculus.  They compete in math
contests held throughout Alabama.  Sumter Academy's Math Team has won 1st in their district
for the past six years.  In 1999, they won 2nd in the state. In 2000, they won 3rd in the Division III
competition held at the University of West Alabama.



Scholar Bowl Team:
  
The Scholar Bowl Team is an organization that competes in various subject areas including
Math, Science, Literature, History, Politics, Art, Music and Entertainment.  They compete in the
County, District, Regional and State Levels.  They also participate in various academic
tournaments throughout the school year.
