*William Carey University has created a new
scholarship opportunity for first-time
freshmen students with an ACT score between
15-19.  Students may enroll in 12 hours of
courses tuition-free (Students must earn their
degree for WCU in order for this to apply).  
Students with a 20 or greater ACT may also
participate for an upgraded scholarship

(GSEC) Scholarship Program is an opportunity
to recognize young people for outstanding
community service and to encourage more
young people to serve in their communities.

least 100 hours of community service during
his/her senior year.  Students must be U.S.
citizens, permanent residents of Greene or
Sumter county, and attend school in Greene or

The University of Montevallo is offering a
$3,000 a year scholarship for students who
have earned Valedictorian or Salutatorian
Honors or for students graduating with a 4.0
GPA.  


*The University of Alabama is sponsoring the
Rural Health Scholars Program for 25 high
school students currently in the 11th grade.  
The ultimate goal of the program is to make
quality health care more available to our rural
communities.  Applications should be

*Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York is
offering 12 full scholarships to highly
talented, deserving students who major in

*The SA Vocational Tech. Class is requesting
donations of equipment and materials for Vo-
Tech Education. They're in the process of
renovating the Sparkman Hunting Lodge for

*SAT-10 Testing Dates for grades 2, 4, 6 and
8, will be March 22 - March 26, 2010. Please
make sure your child is in attendance during
this time.


*Juniors who have not taken the ACT need to
pick up an ACT packet from Mrs. Larkin or
register online at

Available test dates for the remainder of the
year are Feb. 6, Apr. 10, Jun. 12. Make sure
you register for the ACT Plus Writing Test
and include the school code: 012-853 when
filling out the registration form.

*The Department of Art and Art History at
The University of Alabama is offering three
full-tuition academic scholarships to incoming
freshmen students who plan to major in
studio art or art history.  The one-year non-
renewable scholarships are worth a full year’
s tuition. Application Deadline: March 5,
2010.  Candidates must have a minimum of
3.0 GPA and an ACT score of 20 or higher.  
Scholarship recipients must be enrolled full-
time in a Studio Art or Art History program at
